Job Description:
As a seasoned Senior Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development, implementation, and optimization of bespoke automation and robotic cells. Your expertise will contribute to the design, refinement, and performance enhancement of complex systems, enabling the delivery of cutting-edge solutions to partners and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Algorithm Development: Develop, implement, and optimize control algorithms for custom-built systems, requiring 3+ years of experience with programming industrial robots.
- System Design: Design and integrate control systems for real-time operation, ensuring precise movement, sensing, and interaction.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design engineers, control engineers, and production teams, to ensure seamless integration into our robotic automation and control systems.
- Simulation and Testing: Conduct simulations and testing to validate control algorithms, mechanical designs, manipulator suitability, and optimize performance to meet cycle time commitments.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, ensuring smooth operation and reliability.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotics controls across multiple vendor platforms and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Documentation: Document design processes, specifications, and develop technical reports.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Robotics Background: Strong background in robotics controls and demonstrated experience in developing control algorithms for robotic systems, with essential experience in programming ABB robots.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity and experience with robotic hardware platforms, PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron), sensors, and actuators.
- Control Theory: Solid understanding of control theory, including PID control, state-space control, and adaptive control.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues.
- Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Desirable Qualifications: Experience with industrial automation, machine vision, or motion planning is desirable.
