The role of a Senior Commercial Specialist is pivotal in driving commercial outcomes across multiple divisions for New Energy and Carbon Services.
This position plays a key part in supporting the contracting lifecycle activities, including preparing market approach plans, issuing tenders, negotiating with contractors, preparing justifications for approvals, and supporting post-award contract management.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead commercial and contracting outcomes in the designated portfolio.
- Ensure contracts, purchase orders, and call-offs adhere to the Contracting and Procurement Procedure.
- Manage the contracting lifecycle, including category strategies, contracting plans, ITT/RFQs, authority for contract execution, negotiation plans, tender evaluation plans, contract variations, and approval documents.
- Identify and pursue commercial and cost-saving opportunities within the portfolio.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure evaluation criteria, terms & conditions, and departures are accurate.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure commercial matters are adequately represented and visible, considering front-end contract considerations in category strategies, contracting strategies, and project schedules.
- Qualification in Business, Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar; minimum 5+ years' experience in a Category or Contracts Advisory role.
- Experience with the full tender lifecycle, especially strategy and pre-award stages.
- Effective communication skills – written, presentation, and verbal – across all levels.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Strong stakeholder and people management abilities.
- Decision-making skills considering technical, cost, and schedule factors amidst uncertainty and risk.
- Passionate, resilient, flexible, and capable of working on demanding projects.
