Deputy Dean Education Role Overview

The Deputy Dean Education is a key leadership position within the Faculty, responsible for deputizing for the Dean in all aspects of education business. This role requires a strong academic background, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work closely with various stakeholders.

About the Role:

  • Contribute to the strategic and operational leadership of Science as a member of the Dean's Executive Team.
  • Develop and implement a coherent program and curriculum innovation strategy, working closely with the Dean.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Dean on international, sector-wide, and university reforms in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategic Development:
  • Deputize for the Dean in all aspects of faculty education business, as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a coherent program and curriculum innovation strategy.
  • Develop and lead strategy on faculty student load growth for all coursework programs.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Dean on international, sector-wide, and university reforms in education.
Promotion and Advocacy:
  • Promote the faculty's education capability and profile locally and internationally.
  • Advocate for science academic programs at university level and externally.
Innovation and Excellence in Education:
  • Integrate science research strengths into teaching programs.
  • Strengthen interdisciplinary education activities and drive innovative activities in education.
  • Lead and support a systematic and coordinated approach to experimentation and innovation across the faculty.
Student and Faculty Support:
  • Ensure mechanisms to identify, assess, and monitor education performance of faculty academics and students are supported.
  • Ensure students are viewed as partners in education to drive innovation in learning and teaching.
Operational Management:
  • Provide high-level management oversight of the activities undertaken by the education team.
  • Work with available resources and systems to develop strategies and plans for effective implementation of new education-focused initiatives.
