Job Summary

Ability Action Australia is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with NDIS participants in a community-based setting. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in the NDIS and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist NDIS participants and their families/carers in identifying needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluate, develop, and deliver evidence-based support plans in complex support spaces
  • Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminating restrictive practices
  • Ensure individual plans reflect participants' goals, passions, and strengths, and that they get more out of life
  • Build the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those who support participants, including family, carers, friends, etc.
  • Act as an advocate and role model for best practice
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Requirements
  • Extensive experience working in the NDIS and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours
  • Understanding of Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices
  • Eligibility to apply for suitability with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Completed degree-level qualification as an allied health professional
  • Membership/registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, ESSA, SPA, AOB, ANZACATA, AASW)
  • Report writing experience
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector
