Critical Care Nurse Specialist
OverviewAs a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will be accountable for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a complex ICU environment.
You will monitor and manage critically ill patients using advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Your role will also involve supporting junior nursing staff through mentorship and clinical supervision.
Additionally, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and service development within the ICU.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe and evidence-based patient care
- Monitoring and managing critically ill patients
- Supporting junior nursing staff
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives
- Accurately documenting patient care
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Northern Health is an 18-bed unit managing over 1,100 admissions annually. The unit is staffed by qualified Critical Care Nurses and Intensivists, providing critical outreach services including medical emergency team and liaison nurse roles.
Our ICUs offer accredited postgraduate training, regular in-service education, and opportunities for staff-led research and learning.
