Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a dedicated academic to manage a distinctive collection of radio telescopes located in the southern hemisphere. This position will involve conducting high-caliber research recognized on an international scale, disseminating findings through publications, and guiding research higher degree students to successful completion. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and providing leadership in critical areas within the discipline, ensuring that the University's research performance expectations are consistently surpassed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage high-quality research initiatives in radio astronomy.
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate students through their research journeys.
- Deliver engaging and effective teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Secure external funding through competitive grants and partnerships to enhance the technical capabilities of radio infrastructure.
- Foster collaborative relationships within the University and with local, national, and international communities.
Essential Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD or equivalent in astronomy or a closely related discipline, along with a proven track record of internationally recognized research in radio astronomy. Key qualifications include:
