The Litter Action Officer for Chain of Ponds plays a pivotal role in diminishing the prevalence and consequences of litter within the Moonee Ponds Creek area. This position is integral to the planning, execution, assessment, and reporting of the Moonee Ponds Creek Litter Action Strategy and its recommendations as outlined in the Moonee Ponds Creek Litter Evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:- Organize and lead meetings for the Litter Working Group in line with established guidelines.
- Encourage the involvement of a diverse array of stakeholders concerned with litter management across the Moonee Ponds Creek catchment.
- Draft agendas, minutes, and reports to facilitate the operations of the Working Group.
- Provide regular updates on the Working Group's activities to relevant governance bodies and online platforms.
- Collaborate with the Working Group to ensure the ongoing implementation of the Litter Action Strategy.
- Oversee the execution of initiatives in partnership with the Working Group and affiliated organizations.
- Explore and apply for funding opportunities to enhance litter management initiatives.
- Evaluate and report on the Action Strategy in accordance with agreements made with the Working Group and governance bodies.
- Maintain the Chain of Ponds website with updates on the Working Group's progress and annual evaluations.
- Assist the Working Group in identifying and pursuing partnership opportunities across various sectors.
- Conduct research and facilitate discussions on critical litter management challenges within the catchment.
- Engage with local Aboriginal corporations on litter initiatives as necessary and in collaboration with the relevant lead.
- In conjunction with the lead, coordinate projects to achieve the objectives set by the Working Group.
- Collaborate with council representatives and Working Group members to develop strategic plans and review essential documents.
- A degree or equivalent qualification combined with experience in delivering environmental, waterway, or litter management programs.
- Proven experience in litter management and educational or behavioral change initiatives.
- Strong organizational abilities with a capacity to manage multiple priorities and deliver on project commitments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed reports and correspondence.
- Well-honed interpersonal skills, capable of influencing outcomes and making informed decisions.
- Ability to comprehend and address diverse stakeholder needs while fostering collaborative relationships.
- A valid Driver's License.
