**The Opportunity**:
The company’s Canberra office is seeking a who has a keen interest for science, mathematics and data analysis. Your key role will be to support our Groundwater Team, splitting your time between office work and field work.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out general desk-top studies, analysis and fieldwork for various hydrogeological investigations. Fieldwork will include drilling supervision, hydraulic testing of aquifers such as test pumping, field permeability testing, and packer testing, as well as groundwater level and quality monitoring;
- Work with the Senior Hydrogeologists within the group on groundwater investigations such as:

- Impact assessments for mining (coal mines, metalliferous mines, coal seam gas projects, etc.);
- Dewatering assessments for mines;
- Groundwater exploration and resource development for town, remote community and mines water supplies;
- Dewatering assessments for civil infrastructure and basement excavations;
- Borefield performance reviews and augmentation;
- Groundwater management plans for basement construction and borefields; and
- Groundwater contamination and risk assessments.
- Develop and build upon existing analytical skills in assessing borehole data, climatic data, groundwater level and quality data, test pumping data, and numerical modelling;
- Assist with existing numerical modelling capabilities under the guidance of Senior Hydrogeologists;
- Preparation of draft proposals and reports for hydrogeological investigations; and
- Assist in a team environment to develop hydrogeological services to be superior to competitors.

**Other Duties & Responsibilities that you may be involved with**:

- Groundwater Assessment: Conducting comprehensive assessments of groundwater resources, including studying the quantity, quality, and movement of groundwater in various geological formations.
- Data Collection: Collecting field data through drilling, monitoring wells, geophysical surveys, and sampling to gather information about aquifer characteristics, water levels, and water chemistry.
- Hydrological Modeling: Developing and utilizing hydrogeological models to simulate groundwater flow and predict the behavior of aquifer systems under different conditions.
- Impact Assessment: Evaluating the potential impact of human activities, such as mining, construction, and agriculture, on groundwater resources and proposing mitigation measures.
- Reporting and Documentation: Preparing detailed reports, maps, and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and hydrogeological assessments to stakeholders and clients.
- Site Characterization: Conducting geophysical surveys, core logging, and soil sampling to characterize subsurface conditions and understand the hydrogeological properties of an area.
- Geotechnical Investigations: Collaborating with geotechnical engineers to assess the interaction between groundwater and engineering structures, such as foundations and excavations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that hydrogeological activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Public Engagement: Engaging with local communities, landowners, and stakeholders to provide information and address concerns related to groundwater resources.
- Research and Innovation: Staying updated with the latest developments in hydrogeological science and technology and contributing to research efforts to advance the field.
- Project Management: Managing hydrogeological projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating fieldwork and data analysis.
- Supporting the growth of the team through building, managing and maintaining strong relationships with pour valued clients.
- Writing technical memoranda, letters and reports to a high standard, as expected by their clients.
- Business development, client development and management.
- Mentoring of other geotechnical professionals within the geotechnical team.

**Requirements**:

- Possess a Bachelor degree or higher tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a closely related discipline;
