Role Overview
">The Community Awareness Officer - Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) will play a pivotal role in enhancing access to mental health services for young people from migrant, refugee, and ethnic minority backgrounds.
This role is dedicated to addressing the unique cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers that can prevent these communities from seeking and receiving appropriate mental health support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing, delivering, and evaluating programs and workshops to increase mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and support CALD young people and their families.
- Working with the Youth Advisory Group, schools, and cultural-specific services to ensure programs reflect CALD youth voices and needs.
- Leading outreach activities, attending cultural community events, and providing culturally tailored information to support access to mental health services.
- Building and sustaining relationships with schools, CALD organisations, community groups, and agencies to enhance referral pathways, collaboration, and cultural responsiveness.
- Supporting online and social media presence for CALD engagement and undertaking other activities as directed by the Clinical Services Manager.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in the social or health sciences, community development or a related field, and/or substantial relevant experience in a similar field.
- A deep understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with people from migrant, refugee, and ethnic minority backgrounds.
- A strong understanding of cultural diversity, youth mental health, and the challenges faced by CALD young people.
- Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating community engagement programs, workshops, and awareness initiatives.
- A proven ability to build partnerships and collaborate with schools, community organisations, and service providers to achieve shared outcomes.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse audiences.
What We Offer:
We provide a collaborative, inclusive environment that integrates research and clinical care, leadership development initiatives designed to fast-track your career in youth services, and the opportunity to contribute to positive social change.
