Strategic Communications Specialist

The Queensland Human Rights Commission is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Communications Officer to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in shaping the Commission's media and public engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Media and Reputation Management: Provide expert advice and guidance on media and reputational issues, including crisis management and issue resolution.
- Strategic Communications: Work closely with the Director, Engagement and Communications to develop and implement media strategies and campaigns that promote the Commission's work and values.
- Content Creation: Develop and disseminate high-quality communication materials, including media releases, statements, and social media content, to engage with diverse audiences.
- Media Monitoring and Reporting: Coordinate media monitoring and reporting to ensure the Commission is aware of key issues and trends in the media.
- Project Support: Provide administrative support for projects across the Communications team, as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in communications and media management, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and contexts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
