About the Role

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team as a Senior Advisor (Stakeholder Engagement). In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and implementing a range of internal and external communications and engagement activities to achieve strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Principal Advisors (Stakeholder Engagement) and Manager (Stakeholder Engagement) to implement the Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Branch's communication and engagement program.
  • Develop and implement communication and engagement plans and strategies, as well as other communication materials (articles, online and social media content) to support the work of the PDO's Business Management Office (BMO) and the branch more broadly.
  • Liaise with project managers and communication and engagement team staff within the PDO Network to identify communication and engagement issues and to develop and implement solutions and proactive measures to mitigate these.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the PDO Branch's major infrastructure projects and activities, proactively identifying trends and ways to communicate these, both internally and externally, using a variety of channels.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders, including the Office of the Deputy Director-General (Infrastructure Management and Delivery) and the Office of the General Manager (PDO), and major infrastructure project teams to advocate for PDO, facilitate cooperation, coordination, and enhanced communication channels to achieve branch goals and strategic objectives.
  • Provide advice and support to PDO Network staff on communication and engagement strategies and material development, supporting relationships with key stakeholders and the community.
  • Provide training advice and support to PDO Network staff and consultants to enhance skills to support projects and initiatives.
  • Remain up-to-date with contemporary communication and engagement practices to ensure best practice in advice delivered to the team, and the PDO Network and branch more broadly.
  • Actively support and contribute to staff development and performance of the PDO Customer and Stakeholder Management (PDO CSM) Team.
