Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to enhance our operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production systems.

Thomastown, Victoria, Australia

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety protocols while ensuring that all completed tasks are safe for all personnel.
  • Conduct timely repairs and maintenance on production and auxiliary equipment.
  • Minimize reactive maintenance by implementing effective planned maintenance strategies.
  • Assist in the development and execution of maintenance programs to support operational needs.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Drive quality solutions in compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational performance and system reliability.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality assurance standards in all maintenance activities.
  • Recognize and report any food safety and quality concerns, hazards, or risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or related field.
  • Experience with a stringent lock-out, tag-out (LOTO) safety culture.
  • Background in high-volume manufacturing, particularly in food processing.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to propose and implement improvements in maintenance practices.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, as necessary.
  • In-depth knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in a CMMS-driven maintenance environment, preferably with Maximo.
  • Excellent communication skills within a team-oriented environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in refrigeration and trade waste management is advantageous.
  • Possession of a dual trade or Restricted Electrical License (REL) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automation and robotics is beneficial.
