
Human Services Educator

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our team as an Academic in the field of Human and Community Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students, contributing to the development of academic programs, and maintaining a high level of discipline-specific knowledge and research.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Social Work or a relevant discipline, with at least 2 years of teaching experience. Industry experience relevant to the content area and academic level being taught is also highly valued.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and conducting lectures, workshops, small group discussions, oral assessments, and other learning and assessment activities in line with approved subject outlines.
- Managing the progress of students through their course of study, including maintaining email records and other records of participation, coursework, and assessment.
- Communicating regularly with the Course Coordinator/Academic Lead and other staff within the Institute to establish a team environment and consistency in resourcing and delivery strategies.
- Developing, maintaining, and evaluating student learning programs and associated subject materials relevant to teaching activity.
- Contributing to the administration of the course and teaching programs by continually maintaining class attendance rolls in compliance with Institute quality guidelines; and developing assessment tasks and associated material.
- Completing assessment grading and providing academic results in a timely manner.
- Maintaining currency of delivery and assessment material.
- Coordinating course delivery with other staff in situations where more than one academic delivers a unit.
- Continually developing your own teaching methods and practices to apply high-quality, innovative learning techniques to create interest, understanding, and enthusiasm amongst students.
- Participating in practice area teams to maintain and develop course materials.
- Attending and participating in orientation/induction and other course team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Master's degree in Social Work or a relevant discipline of Human and Community Services.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in the higher education sector.
- Industry experience relevant to the content area and academic level being taught.
