Job Title: Support Officer - Coronial Investigations
About the RoleThe Coroner's Court supports the statutory function to oversee and coordinate the Queensland coronial system by providing registry, administrative and legal support to seven full-time Coroners and two registrars.
Investigations into reportable deaths aim to determine the identity of the deceased person, when and where they died, how they died, and the medical cause of death. Recommendations may be made about public health and safety or the administration of justice to prevent similar deaths in the future.
Our TeamWe have staff located in Brisbane, Cairns, Mackay, and Southport working in a team-based structure to support coronial investigations and office functioning. We work collaboratively with our key partner agencies, including Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services, and the Queensland Police Service.
Key Responsibilities- Support Coroners and registrars with registry, administrative, and legal tasks
- Conduct investigations into reportable deaths
- Prepare and maintain records and reports
- Collaborate with partner agencies to achieve common goals
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, criminology, social science)
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
