A council north of Melbourne suburbs is seeking a Planning Compliance/Investigations officer to assist with a sudden influx of workload.

  • 6 week contract role, possibility of extension
  • Must have experience in Planning Investigations & Compliance
  • Full time hours
  • Open to Part time work too
  • Hourly rate depends on your experience
  • Must commit to full time in the office
  • Smart Casual attire

The role will include site inspections associated with building sites and land use on private property. Enforcing Planning Scheme and planning permits, issuing contravention letters, infringements taking enforcement action and educating people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake high level problem solving, investigative and analytical skills with the ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with conflict, complaints and enquiries
  • Utilise conflict resolution skills within a regulatory and enforcement framework whereby officers will have to manage difficult and complex conversations and respond to potentially emotional and poor behavior
  • Application of critical reasoning – able to understand and apply legislation
  • Liaise with and direct developers relating to non-compliance on land in order to achieve satisfactory compliance
  • Conducting investigations, resolving complaints and gathering evidence in a lawful manner
  • Undertaking inspections of developments
  • Follow procedures, policies, guidelines and directions
