Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment professional to support risk management across contractor, maintenance, and project works.
About the Role- You will work with safety teams to ensure legislative compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
- Identify and manage risks, particularly those related to construction, maintenance, and contractor work in a complex live working environment.
- Collaborate closely with the Property Services Safety team and Health, Safety and Wellbeing team across the University to ensure legislative compliance.
- Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies and policies.
- Conduct regular site visits and audits to identify hazards and assess risks.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on health and safety procedures and protocols.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and hazard reports.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Strong knowledge of Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and best practice systems for managing health and safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate outcomes, drive change, and create a strong health and safety culture.
- Proven ability to diagnose, analyze, conceptualize, and provide creative solutions to complex projects and issues.
