Job Description

The Department of State Development aims to drive economic growth in South Australia. Our role is to capitalise on opportunities and position the state for success.

We are recruiting for a Business Innovation Officer to help us achieve our goals.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship team works closely with businesses, researchers, and investors to facilitate connections and provide advice.

The Business Innovation Officer will work with entrepreneurs, early-stage companies, and other participants in the innovation ecosystem to develop and implement policies and programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing policies and programs to grow the sector and achieve impact through economic, social, and environmental outcomes.
  • Managing procedures, reporting, and contract management to ensure successful program design and delivery.
  • Building trusted networks to drive organisational outcomes and goals.
  • Providing strategic analysis, business assessment, and risk management analysis.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of the South Australian innovation ecosystem and start-up and scale-up business issues.
  • Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and think strategically, conceptually, and creatively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing.
