Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships between the local community and law enforcement agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist in developing trust and understanding between members of the community and law enforcement agencies, with a particular focus on First Nations communities.
  • To work collaboratively with police officers to provide advice on cultural protocols and customs, ensuring effective communication and community engagement.
  • To identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement and develop crime prevention strategies that are culturally appropriate.
  • To assist community members to access policing services and provide advice to law enforcement on referral to other community services where necessary.
  • To positively engage with First Nations Community Groups and multicultural/multifaith community groups to identify and build community-based initiatives.
  • To link key stakeholders across law enforcement, community, and government agencies to support community-led programs and initiatives.
