The RoleThis role involves developing effective geotechnical design solutions across various scenarios and sectors. You will prepare design memos/reports, implementing advice into specifications and drawing notes.
You will scope, price, supervise, and deliver appropriate geotechnical site investigation works in support of larger design packages. This may involve supervising or training junior personnel in site investigation works to AS1726, where required.
You will collaborate confidently and effectively with external partners, clients, and subcontractors as well as internal stakeholders and colleagues.
You will assist the Geotechnical Lead in client relationship development, team training, and mentoring, and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Develop effective geotechnical design solutions
- Prepare design memos/reports
- Scope, price, supervise, and deliver geotechnical site investigation works
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders
- Assist the Geotechnical Lead
A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Master's in Geotechnical Engineering is required.
Ideally 5-15 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering within an Australian Engineering consultancy is preferred. Applicants with experience in specialist D&C contractors on the design side would also be considered.
Desirable Skills- Strong technical and reporting skills in retaining wall/slope design, soil-structure interaction problems, and structural design of geotechnical elements
- Proficiency in using software packages such as Plaxis 2D & 3D/Slide2, Slope/W or equivalent
- Expert-level Excel or programming skills in JS, VBA, Python, etc., would be advantageous
- Sound understanding of relevant engineering standards and guidelines
