Job Overview

The role of a Girls Development Coach is pivotal in enhancing and growing women's football at the grassroots level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a safe, inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants in the program.
  • Focus on individual player development rather than team success, with Individual Player Development Plans provided on Smartabase.
  • Develop an integrated program between girls and boys, promoting regular knowledge sharing and improvement feedback between head coaches.
  • Facilitate regular player feedback, vision edits, game/stats analysis, and reporting in line with AFL Talent Pathway standards using online platforms like Smartabase, Hudl, and Sportscode.
  • Cultivate a culturally safe high-performance environment to identify and develop athletes from diverse backgrounds.
  • Lead coaching development in the region, focusing on community and school coaches with support from the AFL Coaching team.
  • Design innovative coaching methods to enhance player development, fundamentals, and decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Hold minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation or be able to obtain it.
  • Have experience working with young people.
  • Demonstrate personal initiative and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Possess well-developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Exhibit excellent IT skills when working with vision and presentation of coaching strategies.
Desirable Skills:
  • Previous successful coaching experience with talented and/or elite athletes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of talent development programs in football or other sports.
