Strategic Category Manager

A commercially savvy buyer is required to lead the strategic management of categories, foster partnerships with suppliers, and drive positive community impact within a retail organisation.
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in category planning, product selection, and supplier negotiations across various product categories. They will also be skilled at building long-term relationships with key distributors, managing pricing integrity, and ensuring margin targets are met. Additionally, they will collaborate with retail and logistics teams to ensure efficient stock delivery, support store teams with core range implementation, and provide product performance insights. Regular travel to remote locations will be required to assess stock, gather feedback, and build relationships.
We are seeking an experienced professional with 3+ years in a buying, procurement, or category role, preferably within the FMCG/grocery/wholesale industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong data skills, excellent communication and adaptability, and a collaborative attitude. A willingness to travel to regional and remote locations as part of their role is essential.
