About the Role

The Rail Division of Laing O'Rourke is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the conversion and design elements of rail projects, ensuring the delivery of the overall project scope within the time, cost, quality, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Provide support to the Project Leader to ensure client expectations are managed, including the establishment of a project brief, understanding the development drivers, establishing a cost plan to meet agreed budget, and risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Authority and Utility Management: Day-to-day management of all authorities and utilities interactions across the various phases of the project from Masterplan, pre-DA, DA approval, and CC preparation.
  • Design Procurement Strategy: Develop with the Project Leader and Project Engineer an overall design procurement strategy to ensure consultants selected understand the key project drivers and can respond accordingly.
  • Cost Planning: Engage cost planners as required to develop an overall cost plan for the project and work with them to develop the design in accordance with the project budget.
  • Conversion Program: Support the Project Leader in developing an overall conversion program, including project issues that relate to revenue, the client, authorities, design, procurement, and delivery of the project.
  • Risk Management: Identify and understand key risks and opportunities in all aspects of the project to optimise Laing O'Rourke's position.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all works are completed in accordance with the client quality requirements and Australian standards/codes.
  • Reporting: Prepare the overall project client reporting documentation in a PCG format and attend PCG meetings. For internal Laing O'Rourke reporting, prepare and present monthly conversion reports tracking against budgets, program, and outputs.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager who has a strong background in rail signalling and communication construction projects. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Managing Teams: Exposure to managing teams for delivery phase of construction.
  • Signalling and Communication Experience: Experience managing Signalling and Communication construction projects as well as managing contractors.
  • Engineering or Construction Management Background: Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent.
  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of design, problem-solving capabilities, and commercial acumen.
  • Minimum 10 Years' Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in Rail Signalling preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate on all levels – from Directors to operatives.
