Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Care and Support Specialist to join our team. As a Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals and improving their quality of life.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to participate in daily living activities and achieve their goals.
  • Assisting participants with accessing community events, services, and social outings, promoting social inclusion and community engagement.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including progress notes and incident reports, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Delivering support in a manner that encourages and motivates participants to meet their goals, through a person-centered approach.
  • Cultivating a stimulating, caring, and culturally appropriate environment that promotes the well-being and dignity of participants.
  • Providing emotional support and promoting self-care, social, and emotional well-being among participants.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and effective communication with stakeholders, including team leaders, peers, and management.

We have various positions available, including community access and in-home support, as well as positions in Supported Independent Living Homes.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with participants and team members
  • A passion and enthusiasm for care and support work in the disability sector
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Certificate III Individual Support or equivalent (preferred)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to obtain)
  • Covid Infection Control Certificate (completed previously or willing to obtain)
  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates

In addition, our ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Medication management training
  • Experience managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience with PBSPs and restrictive practices
  • Manual handling experience, including hoisting
  • Willingness to undertake cleaning services
Location

This role is based in Sydney and Brisbane, with opportunities to work in various locations across the region.
