Our Opportunity:

As the Data Engineering Lead, you will report to the Head of Data Operations & Engineering and lead all aspects of Data Engineering for Australian Unity.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines that leverage automated testing, continuous build, integration, and delivery, as well as intra-day streaming activities supporting business objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing strong ELT/ETL ingestion frameworks, standards, and templates for consistent delivery.
  • Creating a CI/CD continuous integration and delivery framework for accelerated deployment.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the data orchestration and transformation from various sources leveraging cloud data services.
  • Applying data governance, automated testing, and validation for excellent process execution.
  • Implementing Data Engineering and DataOps practices for timely change management and automation adoption.
  • Providing regular reports and insights to senior management on the data engineering workstream activities supporting projects.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of leading data engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms and well-architected frameworks.
  • A high proficiency in CI/CD delivery.
  • A strong understanding of data engineering practices, techniques, and associated data governance principles.
  • Succesfully delivered sustainable DataOps outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
