Blood Collection Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Blood Collection Specialist to join our team at Maroochydore Donor Centre.

This part-time role offers 60.00 hours per fortnight with varied shifts on a rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, allowing for a great work-life balance.

As a Blood Collection Specialist, you will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate.

You will create a donor experience they'll love—and want to come back by completing routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, setting up machines and collections equipment, inserting and removing needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets, and monitoring donors post-donation and assisting them with rebooking their next donation.

Key responsibilities include working collaboratively to achieve collection targets, supporting and fostering a fantastic team culture, standing, walking, and bending to set up and pack down machines and blood products, and being flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts.

We provide full training; no prior blood collection experience is required. Bring curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological products.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and interview potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Create a donor experience they'll love—and want to come back
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and collections equipment
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation

Requirements:
  • No prior experience in blood collection is needed; paid and flexible self-paced training combines on-the-job practice with online learning
  • Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials
  • Occasionally lift between 9–22.7 kgs
  • Support and foster a fantastic team culture
  • Frequently stand, walk, and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  • Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
