Role Overview:

The Environmental Officer plays a pivotal role in driving environmental performance and ensuring regulatory compliance across the organization.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting environmental audits and inspections to guarantee adherence to established standards.
  • Reporting and managing environmental incidents promptly, minimizing potential risks and impacts.
  • Preparing accurate and comprehensive environmental reports, providing valuable insights for informed decision-making.
  • Delivering training and guidance on environmental procedures, empowering colleagues with essential knowledge and skills.
  • Overseeing waste management initiatives, promoting sustainable practices and minimizing environmental footprint.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.
  • Ensuring seamless alignment with relevant legislation and internal systems, guaranteeing optimal outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Degree or tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' practical experience in an environmental role, preferably on an operational mine site.
  • In-depth understanding of key environmental legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Proven skills in risk management, environmental investigations, and analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Current Queensland C-Class Driver Licence.
