English Teacher Opportunity

Girton Grammar School seeks an experienced English teacher to develop and deliver high-quality lessons, maintain and build on our academic success.

This is a full-time, ongoing teaching position. Part-time applications will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English VCE and 7-10, helping students develop a passion for the subject while developing their skills in reading and writing.
  • Engage students in critical thinking, discussion, and analysis, fostering a deep understanding of the subject and its real-world applications.
  • Design a rigorous and robust curriculum that embeds cognitive load theory, explicit instruction, and the Science of Learning.
  • Write and deliver outstanding English curriculum with a proven ability to apply current research-based pedagogies.
Requirements
  • Appropriate qualification and current registration as a teacher.
  • A passion for teaching English in years 7-12 with a proven ability to write and deliver an outstanding English curriculum.
  • Understand current research-based pedagogies and have a proven ability to apply them to an English curriculum.
  • Demonstrated effective delivery of teaching and learning programs.
  • Excellent personal communication, administrative, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
  • Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), especially as they relate to teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to co-curricular activities.
