This role is focused on ensuring the successful delivery of projects by applying PMI principles, including scheduling, costing, tracking, and proactive leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage projects from initiation through completion to ensure delivery aligns with defined objectives and quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project management plans outlining objectives, deliverables, resources, schedules, and risks.
- Provide leadership to project teams, fostering collaboration, communication, and alignment of activities.
- Apply PMI standards across all project activities; develop precise schedules; manage budgets; update ETC; implement Earned Value Management (EVM) to monitor performance and forecast progress.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues; report status, earned value metrics, and progress to stakeholders and senior management.
- Engage with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders; communicate expectations, updates, and outcomes effectively.
- 5 years' experience in project management in defence or similarly regulated environments; knowledge of Defence Acquisition and Sustainment contracts.
- Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, or a related field.
- Specialised knowledge of naval sensor systems (e.g., optronics, IR tracking, or similar).
- Proven project management track record with on-time, on-budget, and quality results.
- Analytical skills in risk assessment and performance measurement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Technical competence with Defence industry standards and integration into project execution.
- Experience with Defence Earned Value Management Systems; overseas supplier experience.
- Familiarity with Work Health & Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, and their relevance to product supply in Australia.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1.
- Customer-focused; strong written and oral communication; proactive, autonomous, rigorous, organized; interest in advanced technologies; strong work ethic.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard. They will also possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
RequirementsTo be considered for this role, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in project management in defence or similarly regulated environments. They must also have a tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, or a related field.
