About the Position

We're seeking a compassionate and resilient Peer Practitioner to join our team on a fixed-term, part-time basis. The successful candidate will draw on their lived/living experience to deliver person-centred support to individuals experiencing psychological distress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Connections: Establish trusting relationships with clients, offering hope and support throughout their recovery journey.
  • Personalised Support: Deliver high-quality services tailored to individual needs, using a flexible and person-centred approach.
  • Fostering Relationships: Provide resources and support to help clients build positive connections with important people in their lives.
  • Professional Development: Participate in regular training and professional development to enhance practice and stay up-to-date with best practices.
  • Navigating Services: Support clients to access community supports and navigate services, promoting confidence, independence, and meaningful participation in daily life.
  • Co-Design and Improvement: Contribute to co-design and service improvement, championing the voice and leadership of individuals with lived experience.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with individuals and families affected by mental health issues, as well as carers.
  • Able to acquire skills in understanding needs and working collaboratively to plan wellbeing supports using evidence-informed approaches and tools.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of personal experience, education, and skills, enabling them to provide empathetic and effective support to clients.
