Job Description: Special Needs Education Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistant to join our team. As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will work under teacher direction to assist in the education programs and promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Your role will involve assisting teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to support students with special needs, including operating computers and digital technologies.

You will also provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education. Ideally, you will possess high interpersonal skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties. You will be able to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.

Selection Criteria:
  1. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents, and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs.
  2. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs.
  3. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.

We offer a competitive salary package of AU$73,125 - AU$96,824 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading. This salary is based on the 2024 Australian national minimum wage rates and the base job title provided.
