Disability Support Worker - Care and Empowerment

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team. As a support worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with daily living skills, assisting with social and recreational activities, and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with participants with various physical/mental health disabilities, ranging from children to older individuals. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring practices that promote independence, supporting participants with medication prompts, and addressing complex behaviors.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be tech-savvy, and have administration skills. They will also have the ability to work effectively with healthcare staff, transport participants, and engage in general domestic duties.

This is a casual opportunity with attractive hourly rates, kilometres, and broken shift allowance. You will have the chance to pick up shifts along the way and enjoy a set roster.

We require a current driver's license and prefer applicants who own a car for use on shifts. Covid-19 vaccination status applies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build rapport and collaborate with staff, management, participants, family, and friends to achieve a positive outcome.
  • Assist with liaising with participants' families and friends to explore new goals and ambitions.
  • Increase participants' skills and promote independence through active support and personal development.
  • Provide quality and professional support in line with participants' plans, needs, and wants.
  • Assist participants with accessing their social community and engaging with friends and social groups.
  • Implement strategies and programs to develop/enhance participant skills and identify areas of increased support.

Requirements:

  • Manual handling experience preferred.
  • Disability Personal Care experience: 1 year (preferred).
  • First Aid Certification, Working with Children Check, National Police Certificate, Driver Licence, and NDIS Screening Check preferred.
