Empowering Education Specialists

We seek an education specialist to deliver personalized support and advocacy for young people in out-of-home care. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable populations, a strong understanding of educational pathways, and a commitment to promoting equity and access.

This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of young people, providing tailored education and specialist support to help them achieve their goals. As part of our dynamic Education and Engagement Team, you will work closely with colleagues to champion education as a powerful tool for social change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transforming Educational Outcomes: Work closely with young people, their families, and care teams to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that address their unique needs and aspirations.
  • Leading with Insight: Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the academic and wellbeing needs of each learner, informing targeted interventions and support strategies.
  • Tailoring Success: Collaborate with stakeholders to create inclusive learning environments that promote social and emotional wellbeing, and facilitate successful transitions back to mainstream or vocational training.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education Background: Appropriate qualifications in education, youth work, or social work.
  • Cultural Competence: A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, with a demonstrated awareness of the challenges faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • Experience Working with Vulnerable Populations: Proven experience supporting young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
  • Organizational Commitment: An understanding and commitment to the objectives and values of our organization, with a capacity to represent our views as required by the role.
