The Public Advocate role supports the protection and promotion of rights and interests for vulnerable individuals in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The position focuses on advocating, overseeing, and engaging with people experiencing vulnerability, particularly those with disabilities and complex needs.

The advocate role is underpinned by a commitment to ensuring that support services and systems are cognizant of consumers' rights, including autonomy and decision-making. This involves collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that services prioritize consumer well-being and rights.

**Eligibility Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields, such as Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, Law, Mental Health, or Disability, are highly desirable.
- Experience in mental health, forensic mental health, and/or disability is highly desirable.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement advocacy strategies.
- Provide support and guidance to individuals with complex needs.
- Engage with the community to promote awareness and understanding of vulnerable populations.

**Working Arrangements**:

This is a temporary position available immediately for six months.
