About the Role

The Queensland Government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its communities, particularly young people. As a Caseworker, you will play a critical role in providing professional intervention to young offenders, with the aim of reducing re-offending.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement effective case management strategies to address the complex needs of young offenders.
  2. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for victims, young offenders, and their families.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments and interventions to identify and address the root causes of re-offending.
  4. Prepare and present reports to the Children's Court, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to support best practice outcomes.
  5. Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in youth justice and case management.
Mandatory Requirements
  1. Possession of a tertiary degree in a relevant field, such as social work, criminology, or behavioural science.
  2. Current "C" Class Driver's License, as travel is a requirement of this position.
  3. Valid Blue Card, as this role involves working with children and young people.
  4. One referee should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to your cultural capabilities.
Role Requirements

The department recognizes that individuals with tertiary degrees in other fields may possess relevant skills and knowledge. If this applies to you, please demonstrate completion of at least six subjects that cover at least four of the following areas:

  1. Effective communication and engagement skills.
  2. Assessment and intervention skills in working with young people, families, and communities.
  3. Working within a case management framework.
  4. Theoretical frameworks, such as strengths-based practice and empowerment.
  5. Cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  6. Criminal justice system knowledge.
  7. Social norms and community development.
