The role of a Leading Hand is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising service activities in line with our standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and assist supervising workshop staff on repairs and maintenance of equipment and components within manufacturers' standards and time frames.
  • Issue documents and work instructions to ensure clear understanding of work requirements and labor times for each job or task.
  • Maximise labor output through job control and communication with workshop staff.
  • Apply safe working practices, including high-standard housekeeping.
  • Ensure employees and sub-contractors adhere to Company HSE requirements.
  • Assist Workshop Supervisor with job estimations and planning, including job progress.
  • Monitor consumable spend, subcontract costs, and labor hours booked to jobs to control and reduce costs.
  • Promote company values in a positive manner and contribute to long-term profitability.
  • Provide technical support and product information to staff and customers when required.
  • Liaise with customers and staff using guiding principles.
  • Oversee on-the-job training of trades persons and apprentices, identifying areas for improvement and training requirements.

We are looking for an experienced Leading Hand who possesses excellent scheduling and delegation skills, strong communication abilities, and a professional attitude. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of Quality Assurance and be able to lead and mentor a team.

  • Previous leading hand experience.
  • Ability to schedule and delegate to a team or individual.
  • Strong communication skills and key team player.
  • Professional self-starter with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and active in promoting its principles.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge/skills.
