Job Description:

General Description:

  • The Country Medical Director will be responsible for leading the medical affairs team in Australia and New Zealand, overseeing the management of BeiGene assets for hematology and solid tumors through all phases of lifecycle management.
  • This role reports directly to the Head of Medical Affairs APAC and is a core member of the country leadership team, APAC medical leadership team, and various GMA teams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the local medical team, managing and supervising Associate Medical Directors, Senior Medical Affairs Managers, and Medical Science Liaisons.
  • Develop and implement local plans, aligned with global objectives but customized to ANZ-specific needs and challenges.
  • Drive cascading and understanding of global strategic plans and priorities, and overall alignment of customized local medical plans and activities.
  • Support execution excellence, providing guidance, best practices, and templates, and proactively working with regional or global medical leaders to identify, resolve, or escalate local issues, bottlenecks, or resourcing gaps.
  • Provide medical governance, supporting compliance in the country, providing advice as needed, guidance to appropriate legal and compliance resources within BeiGene, and acting as a local point of contact for escalation and/or the resolution of compliance questions.
  • Ensure compliance with Country/Regional directives for, amongst others, the release of promotional material, medical representative training materials, and medical information.
  • Assess and respond to Medicines Australia Code of Conduct complaints from other companies.
  • Chair the local R&D Council, a cross-functional group representing Clinical Operations, Medical, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Be a standing member of the funding committee.
Requirements:
  • MD or equivalent international qualifications or experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on Medical Affairs, and a proven track record in oncology.
  • At least 5 years of global and/or regional experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in Hematology/Oncology and product launch experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of front-line management experience, preferably with multicultural or diverse teams and field teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex information to various audiences.
  • A deep understanding of the ANZ medical landscape, including specific knowledge of medical practices, systems, pricing, reimbursement, and other regulations.
  • A record of building and leveraging scientific and professional relationships.
  • Experience in negotiating effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
