Business Cybersecurity Professional

This role involves providing expert strategic security advice and leadership to agencies. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with divisional digital and business leaders to identify and manage the risk posed by cyber threat actors.

The Business Cybersecurity Professional will develop tailored cyber strategies and approaches for lines of business that are aligned and integrated with the overall cyber strategy. This includes leading the development of security delivery plans for agencies and clients to support the Cyber Security Strategy.

  • Provide expert strategic security advice and leadership to agencies as the delegated Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
  • Work collaboratively with the divisional digital and business leaders to identify and manage the risk posed by cyber threat actors.
  • Develop tailored cyber strategies and approaches for lines of business that are aligned and integrated with the DCS cyber strategy.
  • Lead the development of security delivery plans for agencies and clients to support the DCS Cyber Security Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and guidance to business functions to ensure security is incorporated early and effectively in programs, projects, and initiatives.
  2. Act as a trusted advisor and work collaboratively with other CISO functions to drive the participation of business stakeholders in cyber security initiatives and empower risk-based decision making.
  3. Identify business-specific training needs and facilitate sessions to raise awareness and enhance the cyber culture.

For this challenging opportunity, you should have at least 5 years' experience in cybersecurity risk, governance, architecture, compliance, and/or technology domains. A demonstrated ability to develop or contribute to cyber strategies to meet business needs, address contemporary threats, and align to existing business strategies is essential. Excellent engagement and presentation skills are also required. Additionally, experience acting as a point of escalation for cybersecurity incidents and working with technical and non-technical teams to ensure risk, audit, and compliance activities are designed and operated effectively is desirable.

Experience with cybersecurity standards and frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, ISM, or the NSW Cyber Security Policy would be beneficial.
