Pastoral Carer Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Care Worker to join our team on a permanent part-time basis. This role plays an important part in enhancing the emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of our residents.

Victoria Park Nursing Home is a welcoming residence in Kalgoorlie , home to 22 residents. With its bright, cheerful rooms and close proximity to Kalgoorlie Hospital, St Mary's Catholic Church, Hannan Street and the Goldfields Highway, it provides a supportive environment for both residents and staff.

About The Role
  • Familiarise yourself with policy and procedures of Pastoral Care and work in accordance with those policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries as You will not be asked to provide nursing or personal care to the residents.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of the facility and residents
  • Record visits and submit monthly statistical returns to your manager.
About You

Previous experience working as a Pastoral Carer in an Aged Care setting is preferred. Preferred background in counselling, social work, pastoral care, church ministry.

  • Have developed skills in empathy, sensitivity and patience when working with residents
  • Respect the right of residents to confidentiality and privacy
  • Have well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively on all levels both written and verbal.
  • Have the ability to work harmoniously with people from a diverse range of social, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Be comfortable with the distinctly Catholic ethos of the facility.
  • Be flexible to work increased hours, if required.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing emotional support and connection to residents, enhancing their overall wellbeing. They will also be expected to maintain accurate records and adhere to relevant policies and procedures.
