Business Operations Director

We are seeking a seasoned Operations Director to lead our Fulfillment Operations team in Melbourne.
This is a key leadership role that involves delivering inspiring and inclusive leadership to the teams you supervise. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of Area Managers and their direct reports, while reporting to the Site Lead.
Your leadership skills will be crucial in motivating and inspiring your teams to achieve high performance targets, planning schedules and activities that balance their needs with those of the business.
You will also play a critical role in coordinating process improvement projects to streamline activities and improve productivity.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain Health and Safety standards within your remit area.
- Collect and update operations metrics on an hourly basis.
- Achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and ensure a high-quality customer experience.
- Collaborate with other support teams on staffing plans, schedules, and performance levels.
- Implement process change and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 6 months experience in a similar leadership role.
- Previous experience in leading large, diverse teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven experience in a logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and extract data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical skills.
- Experience managing a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous.
