POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting directly to the Mechanical Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician plays a crucial role in executing Fixed Plant Maintenance. This position involves assisting the Mechanical Leading Hands in overseeing the daily tasks of Technicians, ensuring that equipment repairs and maintenance are performed to the highest standards. The goal is to maintain the production plant and utilities for safe and reliable operations within budgetary constraints.

This is a permanent full-time role with a FIFO 8:6; 7:7 roster from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily mechanical maintenance tasks as per the maintenance plan outlined by the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Diagnose machine component failures when necessary, including collecting evidence for future analysis.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of work orders in PRONTO, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to assistants in their roles.
  • Engage in special projects as required.
  • Maintain punctuality consistently.
  • Utilize parts appropriately according to work order specifications.
  • Return unused parts for credit and ensure they are promptly restocked.
  • After repairs, clean and label all removed parts with relevant work order information.
  • Return all company tools to designated storage areas after daily use.
  • Keep the work area and workshops clean and safe.
  • Propose improvement ideas to the Mechanical Supervisor or Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant, recognized in Australia).
  • Experience in fixed plant operations within a mining processing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in remote team settings.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Motivated and diligent with a professional demeanor.
  • Experience as a Supervisor or Leading Hand in fixed plant maintenance (minimum of 3-5 years).
  • Root Cause Analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with PRONTO and MS Office is advantageous.
  • Valid WA Driver's license.
  • Willingness to undergo a full site medical examination and provide a current National Police Clearance.
