POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting directly to the Mechanical Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective maintenance of Fixed Plant operations. This position involves collaborating with Mechanical Leading Hands to allocate and oversee the daily tasks of Technicians, ensuring that equipment repairs and maintenance are executed to the highest standards, thereby facilitating safe and reliable production within budgetary constraints.

This is a permanent full-time role operating on a FIFO 8:6; 7:7 roster from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily mechanical maintenance tasks in alignment with the maintenance schedule as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Diagnose machine component failures and gather evidence for future analysis.
  • Ensure all work orders are completed accurately and consistently in PRONTO.
  • Provide guidance and support to assistants in their roles.
  • Engage in special projects as required.
  • Maintain punctuality and adhere to work schedules.
  • Utilize parts as specified in work order descriptions.
  • Return unused parts for credit and ensure proper storage.
  • Clean and tag all removed parts with relevant work order information upon completion of repairs.
  • Return all company tools to designated storage areas after use.
  • Keep the work area and workshops clean and safe.
  • Propose improvement ideas to the Mechanical Supervisor or Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Possess a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant, recognized in Australia).
  • Have experience in fixed plant operations within a mining processing environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork skills, particularly in remote settings.
  • Show a solid commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Be motivated, hardworking, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Possess supervisory or leading hand experience in fixed plant maintenance (minimum of 3-5 years).
  • Have experience in Root Cause Analysis.
  • Familiarity with PRONTO and MS Office is highly regarded.
  • Hold a current WA Driver's license.
  • Be willing to undergo a full site medical examination and provide a current National Police Clearance.
