
Rural Health Crisis Counsellor

This position plays a crucial role in providing rural and remote health services. The ideal candidate will work within a tri-agency partnership delivering integrated crisis responses and ongoing counselling to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect, and support for their family members.
Key Responsibilities- Establish access to local health district information regarding JCPRP referrals and participate in Local Planning and Response meetings.
- Provide consultative services in clinical expertise areas to local clinicians, promoting consistent provision of safe high-quality client-centered care within the Prevention and Response Violence and Neglect (PARVAN) framework.
- Deliver clinical in-service education programs, including mandatory child protection training, to facilitate learning across the team.
- Support domestic violence reforms and act as a proxy representative at Safety Action Meetings (SAM).
- Relevant qualifications or experience as per Award Classification – Bachelor of Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or NSW Health Professionals Award Psychologist with general registration with AHPRA or Bachelor degree in Social Science, Social Welfare.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary trauma-informed practice and its application in rural/remote service provision, along with advanced clinical skills in individual and group counselling and therapeutic work.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including accurate documentation, proficient writing, effective consultation, negotiation, and development of collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders.
- Competency in using standard office software, email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations, and clinical documentation.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to working within principles impacting violence, abuse, and neglect, independently and within a multidisciplinary team framework.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and sensitively with diverse clients, including remote communities and Aboriginal people.
- Exercise independent professional judgment and advanced reasoning skills for problem-solving, prioritizing, and managing complex caseloads involving expansion, adaptation, or modification of principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence and ability to travel within an outreach and on-call capacity.
