Associate Production Manager

The Associate Production Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a project. Working closely with Coordinators, they oversee the show sequence or discipline schedules, helping to create a comprehensive sequence or overall show schedule. This position also involves managing and mentoring Production Coordinators and PAs.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish a show schedule and collaborate with Coordinators to maintain a strong overall schedule.
- Manage and mentor Production Coordinators and PAs.
- Work closely with the Producer and Production Manager to bid shot work.
- Partner with PMs to drive targets and milestones.
- Oversee weekly artist schedules while managing big picture schedules with PM/Producer.
- Report potential issues to the Project Producer and Production Manager that may affect the schedule or workflow.
- Correspond with cross-site teams regarding reviews, schedules, and resource needs.
- Support discipline supervisors and/or leads in crewing, casting, and scheduling bodies of work.
- Schedule, track, and manage assigned work within Shotgrid.
- Keep a weekly synopsis of discipline and/or sequence accomplishments and next steps.
- Anticipate and communicate issues to leadership teams to reach solutions in a timely manner.
- On relevant shows, oversee outsourced work to ensure vendors' bids and schedule align with the overall show schedule.
- Technical ability and understanding required to run Linux, Windows, and Mac-based programs for reviews with crew, clients, external vendors, and various meetings.
- Conference room, Viewstation, and basic technical setup and troubleshooting.
- Prioritization and escalation of technical support issues.
- Ability to cover for Coordinators or Production Assistants if needed.
- May accompany VFX Supervisor and Matchmover on location for blue screen and principle photography work.
- Serve as the main point person between the Production and VFX Editors.
- Reserve equipment and resources needed for location and stage work; monitor schedules to avoid conflicts.
- Minimum of 5 years in the VFX Production environment.
- Proven work experience in VFX production, including strong working knowledge of post-production techniques and terminology.
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Art, Drama, or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, work with diverse personalities, and work within strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Macs/PCs, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of UNIX required.
- Ability to work on a computer/keyboard for long periods of time.
- Ability to work overtime on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Attention to detail, follow-through, and strong communication skills.
