Job Summary

The Associate Production Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of our projects, working closely with Coordinators to maintain a well-organized and efficient production environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee show schedules, collaborating with Coordinators to ensure a strong overall schedule.
  • Manage and mentor Production Coordinators and PAs, guiding them to achieve their best performance.
  • Work closely with the Producer and Production Manager to bid shot work effectively.
  • Partner with PM's to drive targets and milestones, ensuring project success.
  • Collaborate with Coordinators on weekly artist schedules, while overseeing the big picture schedules with PM/Producer.
  • Monitor client needs, reviews, and deliveries to ensure all disciplines hit their targets.
  • Report potential issues to the Project Producer and Production Manager that may affect the schedule or workflow.
  • Correspond with cross-site teams regarding reviews, schedules, and resource needs when required.
  • Support discipline supervisors and/or leads in crewing, casting, and scheduling bodies of work, keeping the overall show schedule in mind.
  • Schedule, track, and manage assigned work within Shotgrid, working with Production Managers to display the information effectively.
  • Keep a weekly synopsis of discipline and/or sequence accomplishments and next steps.
  • Anticipate and communicate issues to the leadership team to reach timely solutions.
  • Oversee outsourced work, ensuring vendors' bids and schedules align with the overall show schedule.
  • Technical ability and understanding required to run Linux, Windows, and Mac-based programs for reviews with crew, clients, external vendors, and meetings.
  • Conference room, Viewstation, and basic technical setup and troubleshooting (running generic scripts to resolve issues).
  • Prioritization and escalation of technical support issues.
  • Ability to cover for Coordinators or Production Assistants if needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May accompany VFX Supervisor and Matchmover on location for blue screen and principle photography work, overseeing camera reports, shot information sheets, and matchmove information.
  • Serve as the main point person between the Production and VFX Editors, discussing cut lengths, key frame numbers, editorial discrepancies, and other specifics regarding film.
  • Reserve equipment and resources needed for location and stage work, monitoring schedules to avoid conflicts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in the VFX Production environment.
  • Proven work experience in VFX production, including a strong working knowledge of post-production techniques and terminology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Art, Drama, or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, work with diverse personalities, and work within strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Macs/PCs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with knowledge of UNIX required.
  • Ability to work on a computer/keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work overtime on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Attention to detail, follow-through, and strong communication skills.
