Electrical Design Specialist

Are you looking for a challenging role in electrical design? We have an exciting opportunity for a Substation P&C Designer to join our team.
This position involves working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design. You will be responsible for designing medium to extra high voltage utility substations, including one-line diagrams, P&C equipment selection, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and engineering documentation such as Requests for Information (RFIs), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction Specifications.
You will work with engineers to develop drawing packages, coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and Civil, participate in quality assurance and quality control programs, and contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management.
We are seeking candidates with an Associate's degree or equivalent technical education, experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, understanding of protection and control design, electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail, and good command of the English language with written and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) or more years' experience in utility substation design
- Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes
- Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such
