Substation P&C Engineer Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Substation Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department in Augusta, Maine. As a P&C Engineer, you will work on complex electrical utility substation design projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed P&C designs for medium to extra high voltage utility substations, including one-line diagrams, equipment selection, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA systems, communications, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations, and engineering documentation.
  • Work closely with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packages and coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and Civil.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs and contribute to engineering proposal development, project scheduling, and budget management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
  • Understanding of substation equipment and its function, with good command of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong command of the English language, with excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal team members and external client personnel.
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without need for work sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Three or more years' experience in utility substation design.
  • Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and similar sources.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
