Deputy Associate - Legal Support Role">

The Deputy Associate is a critical role that supports the Judge in managing Chambers and Court operations. This includes preparing court materials, conducting legal research, and assisting with judgment preparation as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the conduct of Court proceedings, including transcription of orders and general Courtroom management.
  • Support the Associate in daily Chamber management, responding to inquiries, and managing the Associate's inbox on behalf of the Judge.
  • Undertake legal research, identifying relevant legislation, summarizing key legal authorities, and preparing legal research materials.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, discretion, initiative, and effective communication with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to undertake legal research and prepare reports and written correspondence.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including prioritization, meeting deadlines, and working effectively under pressure.
  • Adaptability and ability to travel on circuits.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship is mandatory.
  • Security and character clearance, including a Police Records Check, may be required during employment.
