Explosive Operations Assistant

The McArthur River Mine is a leading zinc-lead operation with a strong future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, it produces and processes zinc, lead, and silver from its open-cut operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Shotfirers with explosive coordination and loading for blasts.
  • Ensuring safe practices and procedures are followed at all times.

Accountabilities:

  • Safe use, storage, security, transport, and handling of explosives according to statutory and company requirements.
  • Able to follow instructions from Shotfirers.
  • Loading explosives and priming blast holes.
  • Dipping of blast holes and recording information accurately for engineers.
  • Active blast loading area delineation.
  • Safe and efficient operation of duties.
  • Pre-starts on equipment.
  • Bulk product quality tests as required.
  • Unsupervised work.
  • Operate ancillary equipment.
