Job Summary

The Aboriginal Family Support Worker - Lead position is a critical role within the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, providing a liaison and support service to children and their families attending the Child and Youth Assessment & Therapeutic Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide cultural brokerage, liaison, advocacy, and support for clients, ensuring the coordination and facilitation of child and family appointments and follow-ups.
  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring, and training to the Aboriginal Family Support Worker staff within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with the Child and Youth Assessment & Therapeutic Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to Aboriginal children and families.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal communities, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the cultural safety and well-being of Aboriginal children and families.
Requirements
  • Identifies as an Aboriginal person, recognized and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluency in one or more local Aboriginal languages, and the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities or experiences that ensure strong leadership, mentoring, and training of Aboriginal colleagues.
  • Proven experience in providing support to Aboriginal children and families.
  • Current driver's license.
