Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a dedicated recent graduate to fill the role of Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary) in Newcastle. This opportunity provides an excellent chance to acquire hands-on classroom experience and launch your career in teaching.

As a Graduate TA, you will collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, assist with classroom management, and closely work with students to offer academic and emotional support. You will contribute to student progress by providing 1:1 support, small group interventions, and helping to create a positive, inclusive learning space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum.
  • Offer one-to-one or group support to students, especially those with additional learning needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and contribute to a focused learning environment.
  • Support students' social and emotional development by building positive relationships.
  • Contribute to the assessment and tracking of student progress under teacher guidance.
Requirements:
  • A university degree in any discipline, demonstrating a strong academic background.
  • A genuine interest in working within the education sector, particularly with Secondary students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate young adults while demonstrating patience and empathy.
  • An updated CV covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps, and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
